Ingredients

• Strong coffee or espresso – 1½ cups (dark roast recommended)
• Milk – 1½ cups (dairy or barista oat)
• Unsweetened cocoa powder – 1 Tbsp
• Fine beet powder or red velvet cake mix – 1½ tsp (ruby color, minimal flavor impact)
• Brown sugar or simple syrup – 2 Tbsp (adjust to taste)
• Vanilla extract – ¼ tsp
• Spices (optional): pinch of cinnamon + tiny pinch of cayenne (“hellfire” kick)
• Toppings: whipped cream or foam, chocolate drizzle, marshmallow “eyeball”

Steps

1. Crimson cocoa base. In a small saucepan, whisk milk, cocoa, beet powder, sugar, vanilla, and spices. Heat over medium until steaming and vividly red (2–3 min). Do not boil.
2. Brew coffee. Pull two double shots of espresso or pour ¾ cup strong coffee into each mug.
3. Combine & froth. Froth the crimson milk mixture, then slowly pour over the coffee for a lava-like swirl.
